So I’ve been dabbling in graphic design for a while now. It would make a sweet job but for now it’s just a hobby. Last semester I was in a class called Basic Design. It was an introduction of sorts to basic animation, logo design etc. As a part of the project we participated in Manitoba Addictions Awareness Week’s logo contest. As usual I goofed of for the first bit and then rushed my project in the end. With not much of an idea for the logo I went with the thought of a candle representing hope being mixed with the province of Manitoba. I came up with a few versions. The MAAW version, the textless version and a version that had other related words across the logo. The contest ended in November and I forgot about it. Until a few days ago when I got a letter in the mail telling me that I had won. My idea is going to be blended with a few other entries into the final logo which hasn’t been released yet. This is the first time that I’ve won something like so it’s quite an honor. The logo is not nearly as high quality as I would have liked but I ran out of time and so this is how it turned out. See the high-res version here.
PS. The Lonely Forest’s album Arrows drops today. Go pick it up.
